Canoeing/Kayaking

The Lake District’s third largest lake, Derwent Water features five islands, is three miles long, just over a mile wide and 72 feet deep. Watched over by the fells of Derwent and Castlerigg, the lake was described by Keats as being ‘shut in with rich-toned mountains’. You will be based at our lake-side site which has recently enhanced facilities, including new changing rooms and toilets. You will be introduced progressively to all the necessary techniques needed to move your canoe or kayak on a safe and exciting journey around the lake.  With lots of games to play along the way you will enhance your skills, discover ancient burial sites and have opportunities to study local wildlife and history.
Specialist equipment for all these activities is provided.
