We received a surprise visit from John Buckley and his wife, Marian, from Rochdale who were spending a few days at Bassenthwaite as part of an Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club get together. John remembered staying in Borrowdale back in 1955 but could not recall its name or its exact location.  Not remembering the location exactly, much to the couples delight they saw the ‘Swiss Chalet’ style building when driving their Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 up the valley.  John explained how he spent a school trip at Glaramara aged 14 with classmates and teachers from Waterloo Secondary Modern of Oldham.   In his new Glaramara T-Shirt,  John explained how it brought back lots of memories and they were both very interested in its recent history and current operation.
