The Lake District Travel Test
The overall aim of this new team building event is to:
Design an advertising campaign to promote the lengths that your company are willing to go to, to deliver quality products to its customers
The team will be provided with tasks to show your companies competence and flexibility plus providing opportunities to gather video and photographic footage for their campaign.
A brief outline of the day and some pictures are provided below:
There are 8 tasks for the group to complete throughout the day, not all of which they will know about. Teams will be given planning time, all necessary building materials and two mini buses to transport them around the challenges. Upon arrival at each task they will be given a brief and a time limit in which to complete the task. Planning, teamwork and communication skills are essential for successful completion of all tasks. Upon completion of the tasks the team are given time to prepare a presentation and then present their advertising campaign.
TEAM TASKS
TASK 1 - Design and building of transport carrier.
They must design and build two carriers able to protect the product from all eventualities. The product must remain with the group at all times and the product may not touch the ground under any circumstances during the day.
Team tasks 2 & 3 need the group to split into sub teams.
Team task 2 - Sculpture
As a team they must design and create a sculpture that can be used to promote and sell their chosen product. They may only use the materials available in the surrounding area.
Team task 3 Travel Test
As a team they must transport their cargo through a course set out by our instructors. Only certain equipment that is given to them may touch the ground. If a team member or the product touches the ground at any point they must return back to the start. They are also given a puzzle to solve along the way.
Team Task 4 (both teams) Drain Maze
The team must assemble the equipment provided to allow water to be transported through a maze of pipes to fill a holey tube. This task involves the whole group and requires good team work, planning and excellent communication skills.
Team Task 5 (both teams) - Vehicle Orienteering
The Team will be given six grid references to find. At each grid references is a question that needs to be answered. This task requires effective teamwork, good communication skills as well as moving the team to the next task.
Team Task 6 (both teams) - Orienteering
As a team they must transport the two products around a course set out by our instructors. Along the way they must collect makers which will give them a grid reference for the next task.
Team Task 7(both teams) Bridge Build
The team must build a self supportive structure / Bridge out of the materials provided. Once they are happy with their structure, they must transport both products over the river using the bridge.
Team Task 8 (both teams) Under the Bridge
The team must design a system to send both products under a bridge. They are only allowed to use the equipment provided by our instructors. The product must not touch the water or the ground at anytime during the task. This task also requires good planning and effective teamwork.
This team building event is ideal for managers or teams that need to be challenged. The event gives great opportunities for you to see your team working together, cope under pressure and communicate as well as providing an exciting and enjoyable group experience.
