Here are some short passages from a charming and insightful diary of a visitor to Glaramara during the Second World War. From the scaling of Scafell Pike (in January), to listening to classical piano music and to consuming ‘greedy’ portions of food, not everything has changed in the past 80 years or so. One would hope that Betty would approve of some of the changes and enjoy a visit in 2022 despite her ‘hating of hotels’.
