Summer Holidays at Borrowdale 1962. In perhaps more simpler times (although tougher in many ways) this leaflet provides an interesting example of that era. Whilst the quality of reproduction is not the best, hopefully it is clear enough to provide a small insight to the CHA holidays of that time.
Some notable mentions:
– Keswick Railway station. If only we still had that
– do not bring heavy luggage. No such restrictions now.
– Common Room and Library. Alas there is little demand for them these days.
– The Officials including the Host and Hostess. A little less formal in the present day
– Morning Prayers and No Intoxicants.
– The Retiring Hour. No later than 11pm to bed with the added instruction to be quiet !!
One wonders how the CHA would view the hotel in 2022.
